DESCRIPTION:The town of Mahone Bay is a picturesque community located along the shore of Mahone Bay. From the main harbour, if you look across you are greeted by the view of “The Three Churches”, an iconic Nova Scotian image and one of the most photographed sites in the Province. Within the town is The Settlers Museum, which details the history of the town as a once prominent shipbuilding and boat building community. The main street is dotted with local shops and antique stores for you to explore.
The Bay itself is home to several active fishing communities, and is a favorite spot of Canoers and Kayakers, providing magnificent views of the Atlantic Coastline. Mahone Bay contains over 300 islands, the most famous possibly being Oak Island. It has been fabled for centuries to contain secret hidden treasure! Theories include buried pirate treasure from Blackbeard and Captain Kidd, naval treasure hidden by army engineers in the late 1700s and even Marie Antoinettes famous missing jewels!
