DESCRIPTION: Conveniently located off the Bedford Highway in the community of Rockingham, Hemlock Ravine Park is one of Halifax’s best natural beauties. 8 medium difficulty trails loop you through a section of the 185 acre park, with the Hemlock Ravine itself being the highlight of the hiking experience. This ravine contains trees 300 years old and over 80ft in height. Aside from the Hemlocks the park is populated with many Spruce, Beech and Birch trees. Just off the main parking lot is the heart shaped pond, filled with mallard ducks enjoying the park themselves. During your travels through this park be sure to keep your eye out for Deer, Squirrels, Bluejays, Woodpeckers and other Nova Scotia birds who frequent the park.
