Category 2 Juan made landfall September 29th, 2003, topping out winds of 157 km/h that snapped telephone poles like tooth picks, pulled trees out by their roots and washed out the waterfront.

Juan was coined a once-in-a-50-year storm. That was only 19 years ago.
